What is Gatherings?
Gatherings is a curated social app that helps people meet in real life through small, Host-led activities.
There’s no swiping, public profile browsing or messaging strangers. Gatherings is designed around a simple idea: real connection begins in person. Aggregate data help build right fit fun from proximity, language, availability, accessibility to spicy food levels, special diets and special needs. Preferences listed are compiled and form a match basket there is NO AI.
Where is Gatherings available?
Gatherings is launching first in Vancouver, Canada.
Outside Vancouver, you can join as a Trailblazer, help build interest in your area and be notified as Gatherings prepares to launch in your city.
Who can join?
Gatherings is for adults aged 19 and older.
Every member confirms their age, accepts the Terms, Privacy Policy and Social Charter, and completes a profile and basic preferences.
How do Gatherings work?
Approved Hosts create small, in-person activities—from coffee and walks to group adventures, local events and shared experiences.
Members whose preferences match a Gathering receive its details and can decide whether to attend.
How do I attend a Gathering?
When you receive an invitation, review the details and commit one Token to reserve your place.
Gatherings are matched to your preferences, so you won’t need to search through endless event listings.
Are there many Gatherings available?
The selection will be limited during the Vancouver launch and will grow as more approved Hosts begin creating Gatherings.
The focus is on offering well-matched experiences—not filling the app with listings.
Is membership free?
Yes. Gatherings membership is free, and Tokens are not currently sold through the app.
If a Gathering involves a separate cost—such as admission, food or tickets—it will be clearly included in the Gathering details.
What are Tokens?
Tokens help encourage reliable attendance. You commit one Token when reserving a place at a Gathering.
Everyone gets 10 Welcome Tokens after onboarding and one is awarded weekly when members check on new invitations. There are ways to build the app and earn Tokens as well. We have referrals (easy from Profile) — suggesting a venue and assisting with venue audits plus helping hosts at Gatherings. We appreciate any way you are helping Gatherings grow.
Cancel more than 24 hours beforehand and your Token is returned. If you cancel within 24 hours, the Token is retained.
We’ve made it that Members can earn Tokens through activities as above since tokens can’t be purchased (yet) or transferred. If you run out and ned more email support.
Can I message other members?
Gatherings does not allow open messaging from strangers. That said – you can review, report or block from Past Gatherings when needed. Private member-to-member chat after a shared Gathering is planned for a later release.
The messaging in-app feature is coming soon. The general idea is – after attending the same Gathering, confirmed attendees may request to connect. A private chat opens only after the other person approves the request.
What are Hosts?
Hosts are approved Gatherings members who create and lead activities.
Hosts choose the details of a Gathering and use member preferences to help invite people who are likely to enjoy it.
Can I become a Host?
Yes. Complete the initial preference onboarding, then apply to become a Host.
Once approved, you’ll gain access to your Host Dashboard, where you can view local member insights and begin creating Gatherings.
What information do I provide?
During onboarding, you’ll provide your first name, city, postal cose/location and basic preferences. Adding a profile photo is optional.
Your preferences help Gatherings shape invitations around factors such as availability, language, accessibility and comfort.
Is my profile private?
Your profile is not available for public browsing, “likes” or swiping.
Gatherings uses your information to support matching, invitations, safety and your experience in the app. More information is available in the Privacy Policy.

What are Trailblazers?
Trailblazers are early members who help Gatherings grow in their communities by introducing others, sharing feedback and building local momentum.
Participation is entirely voluntary, with no quotas or formal obligations.
Also people outside Vancouver or visiting Vancouver (with a visit end date) can receive local invites during that window.
